Skype interview with an English teacher- Catherine Boissier

Students of 1.d Gimnazije Bernardina Frankopana had the opportunity to interview an English teacher Catherine Boissier who lives and works in France for more than 25 years. They did this in their English class as a part of their discussion about Great Britain. Students have been doing projects about Great Britan for the last few months, about topics such as music, school system, movies, sights, food and so on.

During the interview students wanted to learn more about British school system and some similarities between French and British food, schools, sports etc. There were also a lot of talk about boys and girls school which aren't common in Croatian schools system. It was a fun, spontanous and leisure interview that both teachers and students enjoyed in. Something worth repeating.

This is the second skype interview Croatian students were involed in. The first interview took place last year and you can find more info about the interview on my blog.

Introducing skype in the classroom as the tool of elearning became a normal thing in teacher Smolcec English classes. Since our school has internet access from all classrooms why not using new modern technologies to communicate with English native speakers, but also other teachers from all around the worlds. This will definitely help my students improve their language or at least motivate them to study more, to see how good they already are. It's good to show the students different cultures, different english accents, customs and to teach them some Netiquette as well.

Students are more motivated, enthusiastic and engaged in the classroom.

Here are some interesting students feedback that they wrote after the interview.

I had so much fun. The teacher was funny and really open. She was answering at all of our questions even if some of them were

little emberrasing. I didn't think I would understand her but I did and she has a really nice accent. I really had nice time. It encouraged me to speak English even more. We learned something new about British schools, books, food and life in UK and France.

I would like to do this again.

Katja K.

I loved her accent. I didn't have any difficulties with understanding her. The most interesting part of the interview was when she talked about the music she likes.

Sara B.

I think she is really nice and open. I understood everything she said. I don't have a favourite part of the interview, it was all great.

I loved talking to her, but I was very nervous. My hands were shaking and I was little afraid.

I would really like more interviews with other teachers.

Ana N.

It was a very interesting conversation. I like most when we were talking about food and when she showed some chocolate.

I also liked when her dog went behind her. I was really enjoying.

Tomislav M.

The teacher is great! She's open, lots of fun... I didn't have any problems with understanding her. She has a british accent which I really like. it was interesting when she talked about the girls school, and boys and the time when she was a teenager. I really liked her.

Klara K.

The interview was interesting. It wasn't very difficult to understand the teacher. The most interesting thing was when she talked about school systems in both France and England. i enjoyed talking to the teacher about sports.

Darko P.

I liked talking to the teacher. It was very funny. We laughed a lot. I learned about schools sytem in England, food, books and her life.

The teacher is very nice and funny. The most interesting thing was when she said that English children start school with 3 years of age.

Tihana Š.

The teacher is very nice and talkative. I didn't understand all, but enjoyed it.

Shaban M.

I think she is very friendly and that she had a full life. I didn't have a problem understanding her and I really liked her accent. My interesting part was when she was talking about her favourite music, because I like all that music as well. All in all it was fun.

Dina Š.

I liked her accent, I think she is a very nice person and I understood everything she said. I think the most interesting part of the interview was when she was talking about British school system because I wanted to see how different it is from Croatian. I think that their children go to school too young, when they are only 3.

I want to have more skype interviews.

Ivana P.

I think teacher is very cool. The British accent isn't very difficult to understand. And the most interesting part of the interview was about food.

Roberto

I think teacher is dear and nice. I understood everything.

Daniel O.

The best part of the converstaion with the teacher was when Martina asked her: "Did your parents know when you were going out with boys?"

And the teacher was laughing and the whole class laughed too.

Valentina B.

I understood that she likes books, and that her son like basketball. She like to play squash and she said cricket is not for girls but a boys sport.

I see a dog in her house.

Petar M.
